| The Willamette Valley Visitors Association is a
private, non-profit organization that supports travel and tourism in the
Willamette Valley. Comprised of
six visitors associations, the Willamette Valley Visitors Association
works to maintain the Willamette Valley as Oregon’s premier wine
destination, while highlighting the culture and natural resources of the
region.
Situated only a few miles from the hustle and bustle of Portland, the
Willamette Valley seems like a world away – back roads beckon visitors
to explore the lush rolling hills, historic communities and farmer’s
markets that showcase the region’s local produce. With a temperate
climate and rich soils, the Willamette Valley is the perfect growing environment
for Pinot noir, Pinot gris and Chardonnay grapes. More than 13,000 acres
of grapes call this region home. Utilizing the valley’s rich
natural resources, the Willamette Valley has borne internationally acclaimed
wineries where vintners take time to welcome guests while still producing
award-winning wines. With more than 250 wineries, Oregon is only
second in number to California in the U.S.
Oregon Wine Country is rich in tradition and appreciation for great wine. A
majority of Oregon wineries continue to remain family-owned and eager to
welcome visitors. Memorial Day and Thanksgiving weekends are especially
popular, because most wineries that are typically closed to the public
open their doors for wine tasting and an exclusive look at their facilities.
When you’re not partaking in the region’s trademark varietals,
enjoy the Willamette Valley’s plethora of activities and attractions.
From art gallery hopping and antique shop browsing to unforgettable outdoor
adventures and scenic covered bridges, you’re sure to find it in
the Willamette Valley.
