More adventurous Willamette
Vally experiences:
Gallop through Wine Country - Yamhill County
(Newberg Area)
- Hop on horseback for a ride through the famous Red Hills of Dundee
and taste why Oregon wine is considered among the best in the world with Wine
Country Farms Bed & Breakfast’s Equestrian Wine Tours. On
this two-hour guided tour you’ll stop by several wineries to learn
about the history of the region, sip some of their best varietals, and
maybe even meet a winemaker.
Feel the Surge - Marion & Polk Counties (Salem Area)
- Venture behind the curtain of a waterfall in Silver Falls
State Park. Located in Oregon’s Cascade Mountains,
the park’s trails tangle through temperate rain forest. The Canyon
Trail leads hikers to ten awe-inspiring waterfalls, including
the sky-scraping Grand South Falls and petite Drake Falls.
Four of the falls are shaped like amphitheaters, allowing adventurous
trekkers to explore the caves that lie behind the powerful
water.
Head for the Clouds - Linn County (Albany Area)
- Visit Albany during the last weekend in August for
the Northwest Art & Air Festival held
at Timber Linn Park. Climb aboard a hot air balloon for an early
morning ride over the beautiful Willamette Valley. Balloons lift off at
daybreak from the south end of the park and return by lunchtime for live
entertainment, art booths and kids’ art activities.
Run Some Rapids - Lane County (Eugene Area)
- Hike, bike, fish and kayak in the outdoor mecca of the McKenzie River
Valley. Skim over the glacier-fed white waters of
the McKenzie River, with the help of a guide from McKenzie
River Rafting, where you’ll be surrounded by dense
fir forests that break into meadows perfect for wildlife viewing. Want
to stay on dry land? Grab a backpack and bring your camera to capture
the beauty of plentiful waterfalls and streams as you hike along old-growth
forest trails.
Trek to the Top - Benton County (Corvallis Area)
- Take in views of the majestic Pacific Ocean, while standing in the
shadows of the Cascade Mountains all from your vantage point atop Marys
Peak. Located just outside of Philomath, the highest point
in the Oregon Coast Range is a great destination for hikers and
bikers alike. If you’re looking for a little more action, cruise
over to McDonald
Forest in Corvallis for some of the region’s best
mountain biking. The easy-to-access area has trails for every skill
level and allows visitors to roam free in the protected forest.
