Fall Fests for the Entire Family

Becca Barnhart | 10/15/2019 | Fall, Family

The entire family not totally excited to tag along on a wine sipping trip through Oregon Wine Country? Not to worry, in our fertile valley we grow more than just grapes. From U-picks to harvest events, many of our farms will be celebrating with fun events. The fall fun abounds as farms pull out all the stops to celebrate what is arguably our favorite time of year.

North Willamette Valley:

The Flower Farmer in Canby starts running their Boo Train - a narrow-gauge train all dressed up as a jack-o-lantern riding through the scenic farm, and offers daily Boo runs until Oct 31! Both are perfect for families with young kids, or those who feel like being a kid this autumn.

Fir Point Farms in Aurora is once again holding their annual Harvest Festival which features a 6-acre pumpkin patch. Additional fun includes Charlotte's Web Corn Maze and a 3,000 sq foot Kids Zone for kids 7 and under that's fully covered. Add in some hay rides, petting zoo and fresh apple cider and apple cider donuts, and you've got a full day of fun in store for you.

Our Table Cooperative near Wilsonville, known for their amazing grocery coop with a fantastic selection of fruit, veggies and meats from participating farms, also has a fun, certified organic pumpkin patch. They can also help kids take an interest in the local food movement at a young age with mixed vegetables, berries, cheeses and meats at their stand. It's the perfect opportunity to get them started on a healthy food journey at a young age.

Mid Willamette Valley:

Deepwood Children's Halloween Party in Salem on the beautiful historic grounds of Deepwood. The registration fee includes one souvenir photo per family, crafts, activities and treats. And don't forget to dress up, costumes are encouraged!

E.Z. Orchards Harvest Fest started in 1996 as a way to bring people into closer contact with the fields, orchards and animals of E.Z. Orchards. Today they are still providing that “real contact” with the farm at this month long festival.

South Willamette Valley:

Colonial Harvest Days & Corn Maze at family-owned Northern Lights Tree farm just outside Eugene offers u-pick pumpkins, flowers and Christmas trees. Enjoy tractor rides, seasonal games, gift shop and food.

Also in the south of the valley you can choose from over 50 destinations offering unique culinary and agritourism experiences. From farm-to-table restaurants, artisan products and on-farm experiences that highlight local foods all the stops along the South Willamette Valley Food Trail are committed to thoughtful and sustainable practices.
Take in one, or 50 - we won't judge! Download the entire South Willamette Valley Food Trail guide here.
