COVID-19 Updates and Travel Alerts

Updates and Alerts on COVID-19 (Coronavirus) in Oregon

We at the Willamette Valley Visitors Association want every visitor experience in Oregon Wine Country to be the best it can be. We want travelers to stay safe and have the most up-to-date information and resources to make informed decisions when it comes to COVID-19 (or coronavirus).

The Willamette Valley Visitors Association, Travel Oregon and our local partners are committed to ensuring that travelers are provided with accurate, updated information about public health conditions in Oregon. We understand that travelers may be concerned about the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and how it may affect them.

At this time, the incidence of COVID-19 is increasing in many states and countries. Persons arriving in Oregon from other states or Oregonians returning from other states or countries could increase the risk of COVID-19 spread. In addition, travel itself can be a risk for exposure to COVID-19, particularly travel through shared conveyance such as air, bus or rail travel.

Travel Advisory for Non-Essential Travel

1. Persons arriving in Oregon from other states or countries, including returning Oregon residents, should practice self-quarantine for 14 days after arrival. These persons should limit their interactions to their immediate household. This recommendation does not apply to individuals who cross state or country borders for essential travel.

As a reminder, non-essential travel includes travel that is considered tourism or recreational in nature.
Essential travel includes: work and study, critical infrastructure support, economic services and supply chains, health, immediate medical care, and safety and security.

2. Oregonians are encouraged to stay home or in their region and avoid non-essential travel to other states or countries. Avoiding travel can reduce the risk of virus transmission and bringing the virus back to Oregon.

While the U.S. government has not suggested limiting domestic travel, this is a rapidly evolving situation and we suggest that before booking travel you check Oregon.gov

From November 18 to December 2 Oregon will be in a statewide Two-Week Freeze to stop the rapid spread of COVID-19 across Oregon. These risk reduction measures are critical in limiting the spread of COVID-19, reducing risk in communities more vulnerable to serious illness and death, and helping conserve hospital capacity so that all Oregonians can continue to have access to quality care.

When it comes to the American public, the CDC is consistent in its precaution to practice common preventative measures to help stop the spread of germs, as is typical in the current flu and respiratory disease season.

U.S. health officials are urging the same personal best practices that are standard for typical flu season:
