Visiting the Willamette Valley

Situated only a few miles from the hustle and bustle of Portland, the Willamette Valley seems like a world away – back roads beckon visitors to explore the lush rolling hills, historic communities and farmer’s markets that showcase the region’s local produce. With a temperate climate and rich soils, the Willamette Valley is the perfect growing environment for Pinot noir, Pinot gris and Chardonnay grapes. Utilizing the valley’s rich natural resources, the Willamette Valley is host to internationally acclaimed wineries whose winemakers set themselves apart through collaboration, sustainability leadership and passionate winemaking.

When you spend time winding your way through Oregon's Wine Country you quickly realize it's easy to get a bit sidetracked by all there is to see and do in the Willamette Valley. Discover restaurants, breweries, places to stay and more in our visitors guide. Use our map explorer and wine pages to find go-to destinations and build your own customized trip.

If it is a memorable day trip you are looking for, there are enough fields of flowers, winding rivers, covered bridges, hot springs, and scenic waterfalls to fill a month of Sunday drives. Rarely is there a weekend without a rodeo, market, or a craft brew fest. And there are plenty of hotels, but also sleepy tipis, vintage trailers, and treetop campsites.

If you are researching wineries in a specific area view our wine resources page for additional information from our winery partners.

Once you get to the Willamette Valley, the hard part isn’t finding something to do. It’s finding a reason to tell your friends back home that you aren’t leaving.
